I’m Bethany

A corporate executive in my mid-40s who lost a job several years ago, was without work for the first time in my professional career, and realized I was lost.

I had spent every moment of my professional life up to that point preparing for the next advancement. Leaning into my corporate leadership ascent. I was serving on an influential board, had been recruited to an enormous market outside of my state, then applied for and was hired to work at one of the highest-profile global companies in the world, where I was the first in my industry to manage national economic development operations for a new line of business. Then, it was gone. I had become an afterthought of the corporate world, and I was devastated. After all of the comforts I’d given up and the sacrifices I’d made – late-night meetings, non-stop travel, more meetings, reports, receptions, relocations – I felt like there wasn’t a place for me. I wanted my career to give back to me the same way I had given to it, and it just wasn’t happening.

Luckily, I had the resources to invest in therapy at the time, and it was there that I was challenged to find a way to invest in something that I cared about.

That is how GoldenKey Wellness was born.

At the time that I was recruited for my first big job out of state, I’d been studying for a personal training certification. It just so happened that the training was getting hard when the recruiter called. Relocating for a new job was a valid reason to put the books on the shelf and set those ambitions aside. But now, without a job and with a strong desire to re-explore a buried passion, I decided to take a second look. To my surprise, the information didn’t seem so daunting. It was making so much more sense, and I wanted to consume it. Slowly but surely, my motivation shifted away from becoming the next best executive in someone else’s organization to becoming the best executive of my own health and fitness journey – and to giving others the keys to invest in their own greatest asset, too. After all, the returns are tenfold, including an improved quality of life, protected career longevity, and reclaiming your daily experiences.

After becoming a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, I felt like the next logical step was to pursue a Nutrition Coaching Certification. Every single time I’ve worked with a trainer, one of my first questions is, “What should I eat?” It only made sense to ensure that I could help people find the key to a nutritious diet that fits their lifestyle and supports good health. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been convinced that eating healthy foods doesn’t have to taste like hard work.

I’m glad you’re here. If you feel like you could use some help finding the keys to balancing work demands with a life of good health that will serve you today and in the future, you’re in the right place. Allow me to help you open the door to sustainable fitness, a balanced, nutritious eating experience, and the support you need to hold yourself accountable along the way.

My Approach

I’m a realist. I know that getting into shape is hard. It takes time and lots of effort. In reality, it can feel like another job. If you want a healthier lifestyle but don’t feel like you can manage it on your own, think of me as your health-focused personal assistant. I can’t do the work for you because you’re your own executive, but I can tee up your success by getting to know you, what you like, learning about your capacity, your goals, and your timeline, and helping you design and manage a system of success that is uniquely suited for you.

A couple of keys

Fitness and nutrition go hand in hand. Let’s determine your needs and work through your solutions one door at a time.

Lasting impact

Use this effort to find your keys to long-term success. Once you understand the process, you’ll never lose the knowledge.
